This policy explains how Younify Connect — a service for linking streaming media accounts to apps and websites built by our partners — handles your data, and what choices you have.

At a Glance

Younify Connect lets you link your streaming media accounts (such as Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and Prime Video) to apps and websites offered by our partners. You typically encounter Younify Connect inside one of those partner apps or websites, but you also have a direct relationship with us — at my.younify.tv — for managing your consents and your data.

The essentials:

  • What we collect. Once you link a streaming service, we collect information about your activity on that service on an ongoing basis — what you watch, your ratings, your watchlists, and the recommendations the service builds for you — for as long as the service stays linked.
  • Who we share it with. Your identified viewing information goes only to the specific partner you gave consent to under the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA) — a U.S. federal law requiring your informed consent before video-viewing information is shared. We don't share it with anyone else without asking your permission separately.
  • Aggregated audience measurement. Younify plans to use viewing data, combined with demographic information from third parties, to build aggregated panels — statistics about viewing patterns by demographic group, similar in concept to Nielsen ratings. This isn't yet operational, and you can opt out at any time, including before it launches.
  • Your controls. At my.younify.tv you can unlink services, revoke VPPA consent, request deletion of your data, and opt out of aggregated audience measurement. If you use Younify Connect through more than one partner, each partner relationship is managed separately, and you will need to unlink, revoke consent, request deletion, or opt out separately for each partner.

The rest of this policy goes into the detail behind each of those points.

Who We Are and What This Policy Covers

This policy is published by MediaMall Technologies, Inc., d/b/a Younify ("Younify," "we," or "us"). It describes how we collect, use, and share information in connection with Younify Connect, our service for linking streaming media accounts to our partners' apps and websites. Younify Connect is delivered through a software development kit ("SDK") and related backend services that partners embed in their products, and through the my.younify.tv portal where you can manage your Younify Connect relationship with us directly.

This policy applies to information we collect:

  • When you use Younify Connect inside a partner app or website — for example, when you go through the streaming-service linking flow, or when we collect data from your linked streaming services on an ongoing basis.
  • When you visit my.younify.tv to manage your linked services, consents, or data.
  • When you contact us about your Younify Connect user profile.
  • When you visit www.younify.tv or otherwise interact with our website.

This policy does not apply to the partner's app, website, or other products themselves, or to anything else operated by the partner. Each partner has its own privacy policy that governs the partner's collection and use of your data. We recommend you read the partner's privacy policy in addition to this one.

This policy also does not apply to the streaming services you link through Younify Connect (such as Netflix, Hulu, or Disney+). Those services have their own privacy policies that govern their collection and use of your data on their platforms.

By using Younify Connect, you agree to this policy. We may update it from time to time; see Changes to This Policy below.

Your Relationship with Younify

Most users encounter Younify Connect through a partner app or website and never need to interact with us directly. That's by design — the experience is meant to feel like part of the partner's product.

But every Younify Connect user has a direct relationship with us as well, for the specific purposes of managing consents, managing linked services, and exercising your privacy rights. You can access this relationship at any time at my.younify.tv.

How partner relationships are organized

Younify Connect is designed so that each partner relationship is treated as a separate user profile. When you use Younify Connect through a partner app or website, we create a Younify Connect user profile associated specifically with that partner. If you use Younify Connect through more than one partner, you will have a separate Younify Connect user profile for each — even if you used the same email address with both, and even if you linked the same streaming service with both.

Note that "user profile" here means the record Younify maintains about your relationship with a partner. It does not refer to the viewer profiles you may have within a streaming service (such as the profile you select when you open Netflix).

No partner ever has access to information about your relationship with any other partner. Each partner sees only the data flowing through its own Younify Connect integration. The separation between partner relationships is enforced architecturally and is absolute.

Reaching the portal

There are several ways to reach my.younify.tv for a given partner relationship:

  • From the partner app or website. Many partners include a link to my.younify.tv that opens directly to the management view for your relationship with that partner. This is the simplest path and the one most users will use.
  • Sign in with the partner. If the partner supports it, you can sign in to my.younify.tv using your account with that partner, which limits the portal session to that partner relationship.
  • Younify user ID and email verification. You can enter the Younify Connect user identifier associated with a specific partner relationship and verify the email address on file.
  • Email verification with partner selection. You can verify your email address, and if that email is associated with multiple Younify Connect relationships, you will be asked to choose which one to manage.

Whichever path you use, each portal session is tied to a single Younify Connect user profile — that is, to a single partner relationship.

What you can do in the portal

For the partner relationship you are managing, you can:

  • Unlink any of the streaming services linked through that partner. This stops further data collection from that streaming service. It does not, by itself, delete data we have already collected.
  • See and manage your VPPA consent for that partner, including revoking it. Revoking consent stops the sharing of your viewing information with that partner going forward. It does not, by itself, delete data we have already collected or that we previously shared with the partner.
  • Request deletion of the data Younify holds about you for that partner relationship. This is a separate action from unlinking or revoking consent. To delete your data, you must specifically request deletion.
  • Opt out of aggregated audience measurement. This excludes your data from the construction of the aggregated audience measurement products Younify contemplates building (described in detail later in this policy) and from the demographic-matching processes that support them. This single control also serves as your "Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information" request under California law and equivalent state laws — opting out excludes you from all aspects of aggregated measurement, including any use of sensitive demographic attributes. You can opt out at any time, including before this activity becomes operational.
  • Exercise other privacy rights you may have under applicable law, with respect to that partner relationship.

Unlinking a service, revoking VPPA consent, and requesting deletion are three independent actions with three different effects. You can do any of them without doing the others, and you can do them in any order.

Also note: "user profile" as used in this policy refers to the record Younify maintains about your relationship with a partner. It does not refer to the viewer profiles you may have within a streaming service (for example, the profile you pick when you open Netflix). Unlinking or revoking through my.younify.tv affects Younify's record, not your streaming service's profiles or settings.

We may also offer the ability to link new streaming services through my.younify.tv in the future.

Each request applies only to one partner relationship

Privacy requests you make through Younify — including deletion requests — apply to the single Younify Connect user profile whose session you are managing. They do not extend to other Younify Connect user profiles you may have with other partners.

To exercise privacy rights across multiple partner relationships, you should make a separate request for each one through that relationship's portal session at my.younify.tv. We are not able to reliably identify or process requests that span multiple Younify Connect user profiles as if they were one.

If you can't access the portal

If you are unable to verify your identity through any of the portal sign-in paths — for example, because you no longer have access to the email address associated with your Younify Connect user profile — contact us at support@younify.tv and we will work with you to verify your identity through other means so that you can exercise your rights.

Information We Collect

Information you provide

When you link a streaming service through Younify Connect inside a partner app or website, you provide the credentials needed to authorize access to that streaming service. Your streaming service passwords are never transmitted to or stored on Younify servers. The linking process uses secure mechanisms (such as session tokens or cookies) to access your streaming service on your behalf without persistently storing your password.

When you contact us directly — for example, through my.younify.tv or by email — you may provide additional information such as your email address and the contents of your communications with us.

Information we receive from partners

Partners that integrate Younify Connect may send us identifiers and other information necessary to associate your Younify Connect activity with your account in their app or website. The specific information varies by partner, but typically includes a partner-assigned user identifier and may include an email address.

Information we collect from linked streaming services

When you link a streaming service through Younify Connect, we collect information about your activity on that service, including:

  • The shows and movies you have watched.
  • The percentage of each show or movie you have watched.
  • Your ratings or reviews of content on the service, where applicable.
  • Your watchlists and any other personalized lists you have created on the service.
  • The service's curated recommendations for you, such as "continue watching," your favorites list, and other personalized lists the service has built.
  • The subscription plan you currently have, or have previously had, on the service.

We collect this information on an ongoing basis while your streaming service remains linked. If you unlink the service through my.younify.tv or through the partner, we stop collecting new information from that service.

Technical and diagnostic information

When you use Younify Connect, we automatically collect certain technical information necessary for the service to function and for us to maintain and troubleshoot it. This includes:

  • Your IP address and approximate geographic location derived from it.
  • Basic device and software information needed for the SDK to operate correctly.
  • Log information about Younify Connect operations, including timestamps, success and error events, and identifiers for diagnosing problems.

When you or the partner report a problem with Younify Connect, we may receive diagnostic logs from your device to help us investigate. These logs cover only Younify Connect's operation and do not include your streaming service passwords.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Provide Younify Connect to you and to the partner you authorized — including authenticating with linked streaming services, collecting the viewing information you authorized us to collect, and delivering that information to the partner.
  • Maintain and operate the my.younify.tv portal and your direct relationship with us.
  • Verify your identity when you contact us or use my.younify.tv.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve Younify Connect.
  • Build aggregated audience measurement products (described below).
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
  • Communicate with you about your Younify Connect user profile or material changes to this policy.

Disclosures of Your Information

This is one of the most important sections of this policy, and we want to be precise about it.

Disclosures of your identified viewing information

Your identified viewing information — meaning the viewing history, ratings, recommendations, and related data we collect from your linked streaming services, in a form that identifies you — is disclosed only to the specific partner you gave VPPA consent to at the time you linked the service.

We do not disclose your identified viewing information to anyone else without obtaining your additional consent. This means we do not share it with other partners, advertisers, data brokers, or analytics firms unless we have asked you separately and you have agreed in a way that complies with the Video Privacy Protection Act ("VPPA"). If we ever want to disclose your identified viewing information to a new recipient, we will request your specific consent for that disclosure, and you may decline without affecting any consents you have already given.

You can revoke your VPPA consent at any time through my.younify.tv. Once you revoke consent, we will stop sharing your viewing information with the partner for which you revoked it.

Aggregated audience measurement (contemplated future use)

Younify expects to use viewing data, in combination with demographic information, to build aggregated audience measurement products. These products would describe patterns of viewership across the streaming services we connect to — for example, what percentage of viewers in a given demographic segment and geographic area watched a particular show during a particular period. This is similar in concept to established audience measurement panels such as those published by Nielsen and Comscore.

This activity is part of Younify's contemplated future direction and is not yet operational. We are disclosing it in this policy now so that you are fully informed about how your data may be used, and so that you can exercise your choices (including the opt-out described below) before it becomes operational.

How demographic information would be obtained. To make these aggregated products useful, viewing behavior needs to be segmented by demographic characteristics such as age range, gender, ethnicity, education level, household income, geographic area, and similar attributes. We expect to obtain this demographic information from third-party data providers. Depending on how we implement this, we may either acquire demographic data sets and perform the matching within Younify's own systems, or use privacy-preserving matching mechanisms (such as data clean rooms) in which hashed versions of identifiers are matched against the provider's records.

Your viewing information will not be disclosed to demographic data providers. Under either implementation approach, your identified viewing information stays inside Younify. Demographic data providers do not learn what you watch.

Use of sensitive personal information. Some of the demographic attributes we expect to obtain — including ethnicity, precise geographic inferences, and similar categories — may be considered "sensitive personal information" under state privacy laws. We would use these attributes internally to build aggregated products that include demographic segmentation, which is necessary for these products to be useful for audience measurement purposes (and is standard in the industry). We would not use these attributes to make decisions about you as an individual, and we would not disclose your sensitive personal information in identifiable form.

Aggregation, not individual records. The aggregated products we contemplate licensing are statistical summaries describing groups of viewers, not records about individuals. We expect to apply minimum cell sizes and other de-identification practices designed to prevent re-identification of any individual within a panel, and our contracts with recipients of our aggregated products will prohibit them from attempting to re-identify any individual.

Recipients. We would license these aggregated products to third parties such as content owners, streaming services, advertisers, and audience research firms.

Your opt-out. You can opt out of having your viewing data used for aggregated audience measurement at any time through my.younify.tv. If you opt out, we will exclude your data from the construction of aggregated audience measurement products and from the demographic-matching processes that support them. Opting out before the aggregated business becomes operational ensures your data is never used for it. This single opt-out also satisfies your related rights under state privacy laws, including the right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information and the right to limit our use of sensitive personal information — we treat all of these as the same request, addressing the same underlying activity.

Other disclosures

We may also disclose information about you:

  • To service providers who help us operate Younify Connect (such as cloud infrastructure providers and analytics tools), under contractual restrictions that limit how they may use your information.
  • To our affiliates, who handle the information consistent with this policy.
  • In connection with a corporate transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which information held by MediaMall Technologies, Inc. is among the assets transferred. Any successor will be required to handle the information consistent with this policy or to give you notice and choice before changing how it is handled.
  • To comply with legal obligations, including in response to lawful requests by public authorities, court orders, or subpoenas.
  • To protect rights, property, or safety — our own, our users', our partners', or others' — including for fraud prevention and security.
  • With your consent, for any other purpose we describe to you at the time we ask.

Your Privacy Rights and Choices

You have the following rights and choices regarding your information held by Younify. You can exercise most of them through my.younify.tv after verifying your identity, or by contacting us at support@younify.tv.

Each request you make applies to the single Younify Connect user profile whose session you are managing. As explained in "Each request applies only to one partner relationship" above, if you have multiple Younify Connect user profiles with different partners, you will need to make a separate request for each.

Rights available to all users

  • Unlink streaming services. You can unlink any streaming service at any time through my.younify.tv or through the partner. Unlinking stops further data collection from that service. It does not, by itself, delete data we have already collected — data we have already collected is retained until you separately request deletion or until we delete it under our retention policy.
  • Revoke VPPA consent. You can revoke your VPPA consent for a partner at any time through my.younify.tv. Revocation stops the sharing of your viewing information with that partner going forward. It does not, by itself, delete data we have already collected, and it does not recall information that has already been shared with the partner.
  • Delete your data. Through my.younify.tv, you can request deletion of the data Younify holds about the Younify Connect user profile whose session you are managing. This is a separate action from unlinking or revoking consent. We will delete or de-identify your personal data within the time required by applicable law (generally within 45 days), except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
  • Opt out of aggregated audience measurement. Through my.younify.tv, you can opt out of having your data used in our contemplated aggregated audience measurement products (described above) and in the demographic-matching processes that support them. Opting out applies prospectively from the time you opt out.

State privacy rights (United States)

Depending on the state you live in, you may have additional rights under state privacy law, including the right to:

  • Know what categories of personal information we collect about you and how we use and share it.
  • Access the specific personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Delete personal information we hold about you.
  • Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information, and of targeted advertising based on it.
  • Limit our use of sensitive personal information.
  • Receive your personal information in a portable format.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
  • Appeal our response to a rights request.

We do not sell or share your identified viewing information with anyone other than the specific partner you gave VPPA consent to.

For the contemplated aggregated audience measurement business described above, we have built a single user control that handles all of the related state-law rights together. The "Opt out of aggregated audience measurement" control at my.younify.tv simultaneously serves as:

  • Your right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, to the extent the aggregated business constitutes either under your state's law.
  • Your right to limit our use of "sensitive personal information" (including demographic categories like ethnicity) under California's CPRA and equivalent state laws.
  • Your right to opt out of "targeted advertising" or profiling-based decisions, to the extent the aggregated business implicates either.

We treat these as a single unified opt-out because they all point to the same underlying activity — aggregated audience measurement and the demographic enrichment that supports it. When you exercise the opt-out, we exclude you from all aspects of that activity, full stop. You do not have to invoke specific state-law terminology to exercise the right.

We honor Global Privacy Control ("GPC") signals as opt-out requests where applicable law requires us to.

To exercise any of these rights, visit my.younify.tv or email support@younify.tv. We will verify your identity before responding to requests, and we will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law. As noted above, each request applies only to a single Younify Connect user profile.

California "Shine the Light"

California residents may request information about our disclosures of personal information to third parties for those parties' direct marketing purposes during the prior calendar year. To make such a request, email support@younify.tv with "California Shine the Light Request" in the subject line.

Data Security

We have implemented technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. These include encryption of data in transit, restricted access to systems holding personal information, and the deliberate architectural choice not to store your streaming service passwords on our servers.

When you use my.younify.tv, we authenticate your identity before granting access to any user profile management features.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you have reason to believe that your Younify Connect data has been compromised, please contact us immediately at support@younify.tv.

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy.

Unlinking a streaming service and revoking VPPA consent both stop data collection or sharing going forward, but neither one, by itself, deletes data we have already collected. We generally retain that data unless and until you separately request deletion through my.younify.tv, or until we delete it as part of our routine retention practices.

When you request deletion through my.younify.tv, we will delete or de-identify your personal data within the time required by applicable law (generally within 45 days), except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or for security purposes.

Data that has been de-identified for use in aggregated audience measurement products is not "personal information" once properly de-identified, and is retained as part of those products consistent with our contracts and policies. Deletion of your personal data does not require us to remove your data from aggregated products created before your deletion request, because that data no longer identifies you.

Children Under 13

Younify Connect is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we may have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at support@younify.tv.

Partners that integrate Younify Connect into their apps or websites are responsible for their own compliance with laws applicable to children, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") and equivalent laws.

International Users

Younify is based in the United States, and we process information in the United States. If you access Younify Connect from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, which may have data protection laws different from those of your country.

Where required by law, we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms for international data transfers and provide users in those jurisdictions with the rights and choices required by applicable law.

Younify TV App

Younify previously operated a consumer-facing app called Younify TV. That app has been discontinued as a consumer product. We may continue to make a version of Younify TV available as a functionality showcase or sample integration of Younify Connect, but it is not actively marketed or maintained as a standalone consumer service.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last modified" date at the top of this page. If we make material changes to how we handle your information, we will provide more prominent notice through one or more of the following means: a prominent posting at my.younify.tv, a request to the relevant partner that they surface the notice within their app or website, and, on a best-effort basis, email notification to one or more of the email addresses associated with the streaming services you have linked.

We cannot guarantee that the email addresses we have on file are ones you actively monitor, since they are credentials for your streaming services rather than addresses you specifically gave to Younify for notification purposes. For this reason, we have tried in this policy to disclose contemplated future uses (such as aggregated audience measurement) upfront, so that you are on notice from the start and can exercise your choices (including the opt-outs available at my.younify.tv) at any time, without having to rely on after-the-fact notice.

Your continued use of Younify Connect after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

This policy is intended to complement the VPPA consent you provide at the time you link a streaming service through Younify Connect. The VPPA consent governs the specific authorization to disclose your viewing information to a specific partner; this policy governs our overall data practices.
